The Orange County Convention Center, which everyone here just calls the OCCC, is one of the largest convention centers in the country. It sits in the middle of International Drive, split between the West Concourse and the North/South Concourse, and on a big show week tens of thousands of attendees are all trying to get to the same doors at 8 a.m.
Where you stay decides whether that is a five-minute walk or a 30-minute crawl through I-Drive traffic. Times are without traffic. Allow extra time on weekday rush hours and event days.
The I-RIDE Trolley runs up and down International Drive and stops near the convention center, ICON Park and Pointe Orlando. It is cheaper and often faster than a rideshare at rush hour.
Pointe Orlando across the street is convenient for a quick meal, but for a client dinner head to Restaurant Row on Sand Lake Road, about 10 minutes west.
Walkable hotels sell out fast on major show weeks. If your conference has a room block, use it early.
